A lot of our orders come from U.S.A. and Great Britain and two circuits stand out in auto racing history, for these countries, Indianapolis and Brooklands. We would of course like to make something for Le Mans 24 hour, Daytona, Monza, Nurgburgring and all the others but we hope these fill the bill.

INDIANAPOLIS
Indianapolis the name comes from an amalgamation of the words 'Indiana' and 'polis' the greek word for city. This theme celebrates vintage speed at The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Indiana, the Indy 500. Indy car racing began at “The Brickyard” in 1909 .The track was in fact paved with bricks but started out as a sinder track. The original 500 mile race drew a crowd of 80,000 which is very respectable but with a present day attendance of a staggering 400,000 is the largest single day sporting event in the world. The race has not allways been known as the Indy 500. The original title was the International 500-Mile Sweepstakes Race. Subsequently it was changed to the Liberty Sweepstakes, then the International Sweepstakes Race but racing fans allways reffered to it as the 500. The references in our design of course all come from these early days of indy speedway. Indy 500 history is dominated by the names of Arminius Miller and his former employee Fred Offenhauser from the late 1920's through to the 1960's.The Offenhauser engine powered some very fast cars but things changed in 1961 when a tiny rear engined 1600cc Cooper racing car from England went round the brickyard faster than the giant Offy engined cars and rear engined chassis design changed indy for ever.
