A lot of our orders come from U.S.A. and Great Britain. Two circuits stand out in auto racing history for these countries, Indianapolis and Brooklands. We would of course like to make something for Le Mans 24 hour, Daytona, Monza, Nurgburgring and all the others but we hope these fill the bill.

BROOKLANDS CIRCUIT HISTORY Probably no other circuit in Britain evokes those pioneering early days of auto racing history as does the name Brooklands.Opened in 1907 it was the first racing circuit in the world to feature a banked section which rose up to 30 feet high. The main moving force behind the establishment of the circuit was a gentleman named Hugh Locke King. Motor Sport was relatively young then and was a pursuit for wealthy men, and quite a few women as well. It was originally promoted as the 'Motoring Ascot'. Women did not race against the men and were segregated into their own events. This rule was later relaxed when the women agreed not to apply lipstick, using the rear view mirror, at speeds above 98 mph. With hindsight they seem to us to have been very brave drivers as they hung on to the giant steering wheels of their often fragile machines. The circuit they raced on was relatively fragile as well. The banking necessitated the use of concrete in the construction which led to a terrifiyingly undulating surface in places. Never the less the first 100mph laps were recorded in 1913 by Percy Lambert. A brave man indeed. The first Grand Prix at Brooklands was held in 1926 and won by Henry Segrave and the B.A.R.C. put on the last meeting in 1939 and shortly after the skies over Europe darkened. Brooklands had survived the 1st world war but in September 1940 an air raid was to seal its doom. When normal life returned to England Brooklands slipped into the motor racing history books. The early British motor racing pioneers, who raced there, like Percy Lambert,LG Hornstead,John Cobb,Malcolm Cambell,Raymond Mays and all the others paved the way for the Britsh contribution to motor racing history.
